MS/Windows

For running MS/Windows applications under GNU/Linux Wine (Section 54.1) provide a open source option that works for many applications, but not all. Wine provides an implementation of many of the MS/Windows libraries so that MS/Windows applications can run diretly under GNU/Linux. VMware (Section 54.2) provides a virtual machine on your GNU/Linux desktop in which you can install MS/Windows. Citrix (Section 54.3) uses the Windows Terminal Server to access a Windows machine and display the desktop within a window on the GNU/Linux desktop. For applications that can work with MS/Windows documents see OpenOffice 94.3 and AbiWord 94.1.
