Encrypting a File

20190907 To encrypt single file with a symmetric cipher (default is AES-128) using a passphrase use the command gpg with the --symmetric command line option as follows:

$ gpg --symmetric myfile.txt
This will create a file named myfile.txt.gpg.

Use the --decrypt command line option to decrypt:

$ gpg --decrypt myfile.txt.pgp > myfile.txt
