MAC Address |
20201111 The media access control or MAC address uniquely identifies devices on a network using 6 octets, like 00:26:37:B4:27:52.
To check who the vendor is for a known MAC address visit https://macvendors.com/. For example, using the above MAC address identifies the vendor as SAMSUNG ELECTRO MECHANICS CO., LTD. The first 3 octets identify the vendor.
Note that the Android Pixel3a, for example, uses a random MAC address for different WiFi access points, which can lead to some confusion, but as a security mechanism this concept is becoming more common.
