Skype

Skype is available for Ubuntu and works well. Version 2.1 (090912) needed an update of the pulse audio system to have the USB WebCam microphone available as an option. Once upgraded all was okay. This version of Skype remains 32bit and the 64bit package (for Ubuntu 8.10) actually uses 32bit executables.

Add these to /etc/apt/sources.list:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/themuso/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/themuso/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main

Obtain the key for authentication:

$ sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys B88A1AA8

Then update the system:

wajig update
wajig dist-upgrade

Then Skype 2.1 should find all the devices.
