Multiple images can be processed in on command line by using round brackets to group the operations.
The following example crops two images, resizes them to the same size without retaining the original aspect ratio and appends them into one image.
convert \( img1.png -crop 780x415+20+0 -resize 780x415\! \) \
\( img2.png -crop 760x460+30+0 -resize 780x415\! \) \
+append result.img
