41.6 Wget Destination

Using wget we can identify a directory (path) into which files should be downloaded use -P or --directory-prefix:

$ wget -P downloads https://example.com/pdf/paper.pdf

To rename the downloaded file use --output-document or its shortened version -O:

$ wget --output-document=mypaper.pdf https://example.com/pdf/paper.pdf

The download can be output to standard output too:

$ wget -O - https://example.com/txt/paper.txt | wc -l
